TRANSCULTURAL REFLECTIONS

When reading about Eastern European Jewry and its golden age, I discovered the need to apply some of its values and preferences to our current world...

Life to them was not merely an opportunity for indulgence, but a mission that God entrusted to every individual. (...) Every man constantly produces thoughts, words, deeds. Piety is more important than wisdom, naïveté ranks higher than speculation, the God-fearing man is above the scholar. By their apotheosis of simplicity, of warm faith, of humaneness and desirable moral qualities, they paved a way to God for the ordinary man.
