When reading about Eastern European Jewry and its golden age, I discovered the need to apply some of its values and preferences to our current world...
Life to them was not merely an opportunity for indulgence, but a mission that God entrusted to every individual. (...) Every man constantly produces thoughts, words, deeds. He supplies these products to the Powers of Holiness or to the Powers of Impurity. He is constantly engaged in either building or destroying. (...)
Piety is more important than wisdom, naïveté ranks higher than speculation, the God-fearing man is above the scholar. By their apotheosis of simplicity, of warm faith, of humaneness and desirable moral qualities, they paved a way to God for the ordinary man.

Time flies!!
I miss the beating and blatant modern history of the States, some of its daring authors and intelectuals, the constant, passionate relationships between the leading minds and the factual leaders (oh yeah, this is another kind of soap opera...), the literature of the melting pot and its common feeling for this kind of sacred, radically untouchable Americanism... Just a few days more, scarcely a month and I'll be free to get down to the real now, to the now of the current stream of thought, inevitably led by the U.S. which inevitably turn all the others' eyes to them, leaving them amazed and at the same time still considering whether that's the fair thing to do or whether the old yankees are on the top for any specific, unknown and ongoing reason.

Cromwell
Oliver Cromwell didn't do every single thing badly, in the end (of course, this is ironic, Ireland) At least if we take into account the following aphorism: NOBODY GOES AS FAR AS THE ONE WHO DOESN'T KNOW WHERE HE MAKES HIS WAY TO. This suggests not only that we can always go further -and therefore reach further aims!- but also that going nowhere also leads you somewhere (we all have and make our own path) Ok, much philosophy for a Saturday afternoon, though we could just give it a thought :)
