A fascinating article, but such laundering of irony!!!

1.That Christians could despise the Judaism in which they're rooted is scandalous!!!
Romans 11 speaks strongly against this... especially verses 17-24:
'And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you. You will say then, “Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in.” Well said. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either. Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell, severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off. And they also, if they do not continue in unbelief, will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again. For if you were cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and were grafted contrary to nature into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, who are natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree?'

2.That the USA should pursue theocracy having fled from it is alarming!!!
Though God often raises godly people up to positions of authority; and calls all people to seek justice, our approach to the State is to be far from dictatorial lest we become altogether conformed to the world ourselves.
Jesus said, "My Kingdom is not of this world", and 1Timothy 2v1-4 calls us to be humble ambassadors:
'Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.'

3.And that atheists should find humanity stripped of the divine to be absurd and yet would rather stand in the cold than be clothed is just very very sad!!!
But Scripture says well in 1 Corninthians 1v18-21:
'For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.” Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.'
And Psalm 53 speaks well:
'The fool has said in his heart,“There is no God.” They are corrupt, and have done abominable iniquity; There is none who does good. God looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God. Every one of them has turned aside; They have together become corrupt; There is none who does good, No, not one. Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge, Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And do not call upon God? There they are in great fear Where no fear was, For God has scattered the bones of him who encamps against you; You have put them to shame, Because God has despised them. Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! When God brings back the captivity of His people, Let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad.'
Nevertheless, 'The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.' (2 Peter 3v9)

Thank you for your committed comment on this, Jamie. As you say, one can find irony in this interview, and I personally think this is due to the fact that all worthy things arouse a certain perplexity :)

1. You say "That Christians could despise the Judaism in which they're rooted is scandalous!!!" Yes it is. And it is completely, as it is completely true that the "old" testament is considered "old" in more than one way by many Christians who in fact don't seem to have understood the Christian Gospel at all. I can understand the Jewish complain on the fact that it seems Christians give less value to the Torah or Pentateuch but one also needs to know that Christians evidently praise the NT much more, though also taking much into account the previous legacy and message, without which NT would not be complete. Definitely, once again the solution to this kind of problems can only be found in mutual search for understanding and caring and for the common thing which is of course the God of Israel, the only One and Everlasting.

2. You also say "That the USA should pursue theocracy having fled from it is alarming!!!". Yes, but well after all the history of USA has always been of an alarming kind :D from fleeing Puritans to wrestling Indians and a long etcetera up to now. I guess the country has to pay the price for having (had) so many social and cultural encounters in its womb. Nevertheless, this is a sign of health in American terms. :)

3.You say "And that atheists should find humanity stripped of the divine to be absurd and yet would rather stand in the cold than be clothed is just very very sad!!!" and I reply: let them freeze if they persistently want to stay in the cold... though first persist on letting them come in to share the fireplace. :)

How poignantly sincere and truthful in your sensitively discerned care for our Jewish brethren: i couldn't agree more in heart as well as mind of the spirit of what you say:)
How perceptive too concerning the USA's darker history... how politics can seek to obscure past wrongs but they'll soon find vivid expression in the end if ignored.
And how serious concerning the outrage of rejecting God which we ought to abhor and yet the wonder of being able to encourage the embrace of Him which we should not weary of:)
How encouraging to find someone who agrees in the spirit of what is most true and yet is able to contribute such wondrous unique facets of gracious insight to the whole as well:)
